10032 James

James – The Night Before (UK: 19th Apr – Mercury)

First of the two mini albums that James will put out this year, The Night Beofre contains seven brand new tracks, while the other will be called The Morning After, due for later this year. Since their return and an album ‘Hey Ma’, James really did a lot to get it better like before, but things always changes and so does times, the world doesn’t care if there will be another U2. Outstanding track: ‘Crazy’.

10029 Nada Surf

Nada Surf – If I Had A Hi-Fi (US: 3rd May – Mardev)

If Nada Surf had a Hi-Fi, then there would have been twelve tracks from their favourite artists, from The Moody Blues to Depeche Mode, from The Go-Betweens to Kate Bush, from Arthur Russell to Spoon, both upcoming The Soft Packs and little known The Mice man Bill Fox, Coralie Clement and Mercromina from French. All the tracks they made out of Nade Surf style Power-Pop. Outstanding tracks: ‘Electrocution’ & ‘Enjoy The Silence”. Back Catalogue: Lucky (Barsuk, 2008); The Weight Is A Gift (Barsuk, 2005); Let Go (Barsuk, 2002); The Proximity Effect (Elektra, 1998); High/Low (Elektra, 1996).

10028 Kyte

Kyte – Dead Waves (UK: 19th Apr – Kids)

Another great band started with ‘K’ from Leicester (the other being Kasabian). Dead Waves is their second full length, if not counting their last year’s Japanese release which shares some tracks with Dead Waves. If Kyte was penned Post Rock, then we should re-definite the meaning of it. You can see the shadows of South, and even Pop Rockers Thirteen Senses behind them. Outstanding track: ‘Fear From Death’. Back Catalogue: Kyte (Kids, 2008); Science For The Living (Rallye, 2009, JP).
